How to play PokkeMap
PokkeMap is a free daily game about where Pokémon live in the wild. You get a Pokémon and the region map of the original game — right now Kanto (Pokémon Red) — and tap the routes, caves, towns and buildings where it can be caught.

- Tap a route, town, cave or building on the map, or pick it from the List view.
- Check it. A right answer is registered and never costs anything.
- A wrong answer uses one of your 3 mistakes — shared by the whole expedition in the Daily, or per Pokémon in Unlimited.
- Find the number of places the round asks for to clear it. Up to 2 hints per Pokémon point at a location you haven't found yet.
Daily expedition
The Daily is 5 Pokémon, one per round. The first round asks for one of its locations, the second for two, up to five in the last — so what gets harder is the ask, not the Pokémon. When a round wants every place its Pokémon lives, one sector comes free. Each location is worth 100 points, a round with no wrong tap adds 100, a hint costs 25 and a mistake 50. It's the same for everyone, new at 00:00 UTC, and the calendar replays any earlier Daily.
Unlimited
Pokémon after Pokémon, asking for one more place each time up to five. Each Pokémon gives you 3 fresh mistakes, and the streak ends on the one where they run out.
Adventure
The game turned around: pick any route, town or cave and name every Pokémon that lives there. Rarer encounters score more — a 50% regular is worth 2 points, a 1% sighting 100 — and a wrong name costs 2. Clear every location to finish the map.

What is PokkeMap?
A free daily Pokémon game played on the region map of the original games. You're given a Pokémon and tap the routes, caves, towns and buildings where it can be caught in the wild. Adventure mode turns it around: pick a place and name every Pokémon that lives there.
Which Pokémon games and regions can I play?
Right now: Kanto (Pokémon Red). Johto (Crystal), Hoenn (Emerald), Sinnoh (Platinum) and Unova (Black 2) are built and will be released one by one, each with its own Daily.
When does the Daily reset?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. Everyone plays the same five Pokémon, so scores can be compared, and any earlier Daily can be replayed from the calendar.
How does scoring work?
Each location you find is worth 100 points and a round with no wrong tap adds 100 more. A hint costs 25 and a mistake 50. You have 3 mistakes for the whole 5-Pokémon expedition.
Where does the encounter data come from?
From the games themselves: the wild encounter tables in the pret disassemblies (pokered, pokecrystal, pokeemerald, pokeplatinum), cross-checked against PokéAPI. Unova uses PokéAPI only, since there is no disassembly of the Gen V games.
What counts as a location where a Pokémon lives?
Wild encounters: tall grass, walking in caves and buildings, Surfing and fishing (which rods depends on the game). Gifts, trades, evolutions, fossils, static encounters like legendaries and glitches don't count. Floors and sub-areas of the same place are grouped into one location.
Do I need an account or a download?
No. It runs in any modern browser on phones and computers, and your progress is saved on your device.
Is PokkeMap an official Pokémon game?
No. It's a fan project by JhonaMath, not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon and its names are trademarks of their respective owners.
